          “well that sounds like a fun day. i’m sure claire is wore out,” kara smiled as she placed her hands in the back pockets of her overalls. “i miss having a dog, but i know i couldn’t keep up with one. at least not with my job,” she sighed softly, tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear before chuckling again, “i could *not* see you having a dog. a cat, *maybe*, but not a dog.” she would give anything to be able to have a dog again to keep her company, but it was just too rough considering she had to go out of town randomly and often. she wouldn’t be able to give it the love it deserved.

          “well, i’ll stop long enough to ask you how your day was,” she chuckled softly, setting her brush down before wiping her hands on her paint stained overalls. kara turned to face him, a warm smile on her lips as she looked up at him, “so, how was your day? did you and claire do anything fun and exciting?”

          kara sighed, looking down at the coffee that was now all over her shirt. “it’s… it’s alright,” she figured it was easier to just forgive and forget than to have an argument over this, “just uh… maybe find a new pair of sunglasses that you can actually see out of, not everyone is as forgiving as i am.”

          “well… unfortunately for you, i saw *all* of it,” kara replied, pushing herself off the wall before taking a few steps towards the other female, leaving a bit of distance between them, just in case. “quite impressive, if i do say so myself,” she chuckled, crossing her arms over her chest, “but still suspicious.”

          “well, now you have. congratulations, i guess?” she crossed her arms over her chest as she looked the other female over, “i didn’t realize meeting a shield agent was such an amazing feat. learn something new everyday i guess.”

          “yeah, well, you’re letting me stay in your home and i greeted you with a gun to the face… it’s not exactly fair to you,” she sighed softly, running a hand through her hair before she tilted her head slightly, a small smile growing on her lips, “i’m glad you do. i wouldn’t shoot someone who’s been so kind to me… at least not on purpose.” kara watched the other carefully before nodding, “thank you. i just… when i get stressed i have a hard time eating. in fact i do the opposite… i stress bake.”

          kara could tell she had made the other nervous, and she truthfully felt terrible about that. “i…i’m sorry, dani. it’s just instinct at this point... god that sounds so sad to say out loud.” she chuckled sadly before looking away from the other, “i hope you know i wouldn’t have shot you… it uh… it wasn’t even loaded.” her eyes went to the food before she looked back at dani, “thank you, but i’m fine… not really that hungry.”

          “jesus christ, dani!” kara sighed, lowering her gun to her side before setting it down on the table beside her, “you know i’m on edge so you *really* out yourself at risk by sneaking up on me like that…” she ran a hand through her hair before she nodded her head slightly, “yeah… to the best of my ability.”

          “it’s alright,” kara replied with a soft sigh as she ran a hand through her hair. it had been a rough morning so she wasn’t exactly paying attention. it was most likely her fault that they ran into each other, but she couldn’t say that for sure. “are you alright?” she asked after blinking a few times, bringing herself back to reality.
