Did Anakin truly fall to the dark side, or was he manipulated?

In addition to the insane action scenes and the complex love story, the overall plot of politics and corruption slowly seeping through the cracks is something that is not done in any other Star Wars film. Yes, politics is a huge theme throughout all the films, but the way that Attack of the Clones does it is very clever and slow. It's also pivotal in establishing Anakin's innocence as a young adult while slowly showing his darker side and foreshadowing into becoming Vader.
