happy pride month my loves!!! i have something to say and i’m going to sit yall down and hold your hand while i say this: we need to be including less cis characters in our fics. part of this transphobic push we’ve seeing is the active denormalization of trans folks in society. they’re doing it at the governmental level here in the states where IDs that have had their gender markers changed have been invalidated, down to even just less people sharing their pronouns. in my personal opinion, i think we as writers, even in our silly little fanfics, have a tool at our hands that a lot of us, including myself, aren’t utilizing. just including a trans/nonbinary character in our stories is a way of saying trans people exist and they have a place in everyday society, normalizing that idea. trans people are still being killed, black trans women still have one of the lowest life expectancies, and people just don’t care. we need to be doing better and it’s the littlest things that can make a difference
