"I don't know how long we ran for, hours, days even. All I know is that when we reached the Redwood forest in California, my throat was getting dry.

I slowed down to a stop and placed my hands on my knees, swallowing hard. The sounds of his paws slow as well, and I hear his voice in my mind say, we still have a couple miles before we reach my camp.

I open my eyes and look up at him. God, he's so beautiful. "I need a little break."

His eyes darken a little as he takes a tentative step towards me. "Are you all right?"

I stand upright again, swallowing. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm going to need to feed soon, so I need to take it easy."

Rogan narrows his eyes. What do you mean, 'take it easy'? When was the last time you fed?

I shrug. "Last week, maybe. I think it was--"

Last WEEK! he bellows. It's sunday! How could you have gone without blood for so long?

I sigh and close my eyes. "I'm more tolerant than the others of my clan were. They got addicted because they fed too much. I only feed when it's absolutely necessary."

He stares at me for a moment, something flickering in his eyes that I can't read. After a while, he blinks and looks behind him. Alright. There's a brook somewhere nearby. Let's rest there until you're ready to keep moving.

I nod in agreement and follow him down a pathway, through the bushes and leaves until we reach a sunny little stream.

Sighing in comfort, I sit down on a large rock right by the stream. I look up at the sun and close my eyes, soaking it in.

Minutes go by and I can feel him looking at me. Opening one eye, I ask, "What?"

The wolf shakes himself off, then sits. Nothing, I've just never seen a vampire who likes the sun. Most just like to slink away in the shadows.

I shrug, closing my eyes again. "They've just never tried it. If they did, they'd like it."

I can feel him inching towards me and with every inch, I scoot and inc..." http://wattpad.com/story/3318897
