-   still vague, but getting more structured! then, when the time comes to write the actual chapter, it gets its own section on the google doc where i will go into more explicit detail. another FG example from chapter 13: 
            
            - begin in y/n’s pov. going to ariana’s halloween party very reluctantly (w/levi). y/n is batman, levi is fred. when they open the door, ariana’s ass is catwoman. reactions to this vary. 
            - y/n and levi say hello to everyone. 
            - eat pizza. have someone bring up the pr relationship? maybe liz? 
            - karaoke starts, ariana gives y/n a show. y/n like omg fuck i’m running away. doug chats with her about the future, ariana interrupts, asks what’s up. 
            - switch to ari pov here. 
            
            and on and on. notice how i still leave this open for manipulation with question marks! this is for stuff that im still not quite sure on, rather than others that im sure i want to include. this helps remind myself that i DONT have to go exactly with what i previously outlined! sometimes you get into the flow of writing and ideas change, which is okay! don’t keep yourself in that box! 
            
            i will also have an on-going timeline somewhere on the side that simply details what happened on what day. example: 
            
            - january 5, 2015: y/n and ariana meet 
            - december 22, 2019: y/n ends things for good 
            - august 14, 2023: nobu date 
            
            obviously there’s a shit ton more dates, but you get the idea! this just helps me keep myself in line and remember what happened when! another random thing to add here: don’t think you have to write chronologically! i just released chapters 14 + 15 of FG. i had chapter 15 written for a few weeks before i even thought about 14. sometimes you just have the energy to write one chapter more than others!! don’t hold yourself back from doing so! 
            
            this is so so so long. i hope this makes sense and helps you a bit. please ask me questions about anything if you have them!! 

-   lastly i have outlining, which really might be the biggest one. i outline the helllll out of my books now. i used to just go into writing without having any direction, which is another reason my early books are getting rewrites lol. when get an idea for a book, i’ll write it down immediately. i have an entire page of ideas. once i decide i want to make an idea bigger, it gets its own google doc (i use docs to write). there, i’ll write a one-sentence outline of the story. just the main idea is the story essentially. then, i’ll make a list of the jumble of ideas in my head. scenes i want to write, dialogue i want to include, loose character ideas, things like that. i’ll then create those character outlines i talked about earlier. then, i’ll figure out the VERY rough timeline of events/how i want to write the story. for fool’s gold, i decided i wanted to have two different timeless—past and present. past timeline looked something like this: they meet + hook up → make music → sexual relationship increases → relationship takes an unfortunate turn → relationship ends. present timeline looked something like this: meet → decide to be friends → friendship builds → spoilers, spoilers, spoilers! so its just something SUPER rough and vague. no details just yet! details are for that list of random shit i mentioned earlier. after this, i’ll really just sit with myself and let myself daydream about the book kinda? sometimes i’ll listen to music and that’ll give me ideas for specific chapters! but after i think and imagine for a while, i’ll start outlining the chapters with slightly more detail than the SUPER rough timeline, but still not a lot of detail. here’s a few chapter outlines for FG: 
            
            prologue: night y/n ends things in 2019
            chapter one: pr meeting 
            chapter two: first time meeting at 4s release party
