this ended up being the longest chapter yet, at >3100 words (the average length of the others is about 2000, for context!) I'm debating whether I should've split it in two, but I think it flows better as one, and so I figured whatever extra votes might've come from it being two wasn't really worth it (especially as it's been a while since i last updated.) enjoy!
