"The stage lights, hot and blinding, felt like a spotlight on her soul. Below, the crowd roared, their eyes hungry. Willow moved with a primal grace, her body a weapon, each curve a sin. This was her escape, her sanctuary. Here, amidst the pulsating music and the haze of smoke, she could be anyone, anything. But as the thunderous applause faded, and the last note of the music died, a chilling fear gripped her. Was this all she was? A caged bird, beautiful and fleeting, destined to entertain? Then, he appeared. Ethan, his eyes dark and brooding, a storm cloud against the neon lights. He watched her, not with the lustful gaze of the other men, but with an intensity that made her skin prickle. In his eyes, she saw a reflection of her own pain, a kindred spirit lost in the shadows."
