There were multiple shootings in the state of Georgia. 8 people were killed, and 6 were Asian American. A police captain said that the shooter had a "bad day" and, if I'm not mistaken, there's still question as to whether it was a hate crime.
This is the violence that's currently making headlines, but violence toward the AAPI community has deep roots in United States history--and has only escalated during the pandemic. Asian Americans have been verbally and physically assaulted because of racist claims that the coronavirus is "the china virus"
