I am leaving Wattpad on the 1st of October.
I have been with Wattpad since I was in middle school. I developed my love for writing on this platform. I entered communities and met new people. But all of a sudden, Wattpad changed for the worse. There is no longer any messaging so I can’t write to authors or chat with book clubs. There has been a purge of books with even the slightest ick from whoever is purging, they’ve deleted everyone’s book and most of them for either no reason or a minor offense. Wattpad doesn’t give you a heads or a chance to save your book for later, they just delete without telling you. I’ve had several of my books deleted during purging and once a long time ago, I only found because I was checking my engagement and it was gone. I felt so defeated and sad the first time that, I believe, was the moment I developed writer’s block. The app is completely dead and instead of trying to support and help their remaining users, they betray them and throw them away. This app was the origin of something that later defined my personal life and now it’s been taking away my love for writing piece by piece. I am unable to express myself through my writing anymore. This is why I will be leaving Wattpad
