Btw, i feel like i owe you all an explanation as to why my OC’S FRICKEN NAME KEEPS SLIPPING PAST DESPITE ALL MY BEST EFFORTS so here’s a little behind the scenes of how i write my fanfics!
So, as you all may know, a lot of my reader insert fics begin as OC insert fics, just altered to be reader friendly.
Step one: I basically write a portion or the entire chapter on my Notes app for my Oc first, using my OC’s name (let’s use Eva for example).
Step two: Once I complete the OC version, i make a whole new note, copy and paste my writing over there, and use the “find selection” tool to replace each usage of the name Eva with (y/n).
Step three: I reread, rephrase, and edit what needs to be edited.
Step four: I copy and paste it here as a chapter and send it off!
Sounds simple right? WRONG. Because I am nothing but a silly goose and I make so many accidents and I leave behind sloppy writing. I leave behind typos, grammatical errors, sentences that make no sense, and most notoriously MY OC’S NAME.
The problem is usually narrowed down the usage of the “find selection” tool and just me in general. Apparently my phone either completely skips over whole SECTIONS of writing with the name Eva in it and it goes unnoticed by me bc I’m an idiot, or it does the complete opposite and it goes CRAZY with replacing any word with the letters E, V, and A in them in that order. I get so afraid of posting mistakes that when I find them when casually rereading my fics or when someone points it out, I go into full PANIC MODE and scramble to fix it.
Same goes for physical descriptions that don’t get edited out. Except I sometimes lowley just forget to remove them so that is fully on me.
So yes, I don’t just raw dog my fanfics on Wattpad and then just send them out. That is why you’ll see the name Eva or another OC’s name in the place where (y/n) should be. I’m sorry SPARE ME, MY HUNGRY CHILDREN, YOUR AUTHOR IS NOT BUT A FOOLISH BUFFOON WITH A KEYBOARD! WAHHH
