Dont be surprised when someone "comes out"-
whether it be about their gender identity or sexuality- stop assuming everyone is hetero. Stop assuming everyone is completely comfortbale being identified by their biological gender.
And dont undermine, judge or fetishize their differences from you. Respect sexuality, respect gender identity and pronouns. Respect people.
This isnt just with lgbtqia+ disrespect and ignorance, it goes for people (especially people of color) with mental illnesses because yes, thats constantly ignored in many of our communities. Just because youre a poc does not mean you dont have mental illnesses affecting those who are of the same race of you.
Being of color (black, asian, native american, latino etc. If yall want specifics) doesnt mean that you cant have gender dysphoria or question their sexuality or have depression, schizophrenia, anxiety (i.e. be diagnosed with mental health issues)
If youre white (or even white passing) and have privileges, use those privileges to speak on behalf of those cant. Dont automatically assume you dont have a right to help because youre white- you do.
Speak up.
Stop ignoring issues and problems you may not deem important cause you dont face them. Thats why these things are problems- cause people dont speak and try to //better// said problems.
