"This time his foot on her front knocked the air out of her lungs, her ribs shook as she squirmed at the feeling of her soft, supple skin being ground between her bone and his weight. Her ears rang making her dizzy as she faded in and out of consciousness, breath slowed until it reached a slow, calm thrum.

Maybe if she had been aware of what was happening, if she had known how little she might have left she may have reacted differently.

She might have prayed, maybe she would have regretted how she’d spent her time, the path she had taken and all the things she’d left behind.

But she was unaware, blissfully unaware even as the razor pierced through her skin and tore up to her ears, unaware of the feeling of skin coming loose around bone and so, so unaware of how cold she had become until all she felt was...

          	Bliss.

Oh, that sweet, sweet bliss, it’s all she will remember of those dwindling, few minutes. That nostalgic, light-filled, warm embrace she had almost felt. She did not remember her hand having grasped the crucifix around her neck out of familiarity, did not remember the mutters of “Please, God,” that interrupted her gurgling - not asking for more life or another chance but purely subconscious.

It was a hopeful plea, an immature hope that sometimes embarrassed her so she kept it hidden. A longing that maybe there was something there on the other side, or someone, or that there was an ‘other side’ at all. Finally blooming forth in unfiltered honesty, a light so bright her body had no choice but to surrender and give in.

Its balmy embrace brought a rush of heat to her she couldn’t resist, her final words spoken through a relaxed breath.

          	“Oh, Sahil.” "

          	- Chapter II, Innocence Died Screaming
