Ik this is a fanfic account and I shouldn't be talking about sports but the WC today genuinely pissed me off that I just have to rant.
The Egypt vs Argentina match was actually so rigged it was insane. I don't usually watch football. Legit haven't seen a full match my entire life, but I have never seen such blatant disrespect for a team I'm actually so fucking pissed. The amount of yellow cards Egypt received when Argentina's players were ACTUALLY slapping and knocking down Egyptian players is so unfair. And revoking Egypt's second goal but allowing Argentina's last was pure hypocrisy. The referee clearly has a favourite team and it shows. Him turning a blind eye to the Argentinian players tripping and hitting the Egyptian players was disgusting. I genuinely couldn't believe that a football game was capable of being rigged, but I was wrong. FIFA obviously wants Argentina to win the world cup even if it means cheating.
Nonetheless, Egypt's players played like heroes. I've never been more drawn to a game like that. Like imagine dominating the world's no. 1 team with 20 minutes left in the game. They made history by being the first Egyptian team in history to make it to round 16 and that's a huge achievement everyone is proud of. They deserved to win.
That's all I have to say. Hopefully, they come back better and stronger next time.
