However, things became awkward when he tagged along during our hangouts. To address this, we agreed to reserve Saturdays and Sundays for our friendship, while she spent the rest of her time with him.
          
          But then, she started drifting away, avoiding me, and making excuses. When I confronted her, she revealed a shocking truth - She feared that if we remained close, he might develop feelings for me and leave her. I was stunned, feeling as though I'd been punched in the gut.  I reassured her that my feelings for him were long gone and I was genuinely happy for her, but the damage was done. She continued to drift away, leaving me heartbroken and lost.
