singular events in our lives really can change the direction of things, huh?
that used to really freak me out but I think it’s actually super freeing. any decision you make is going to impact your life somewhere down the line so you might as well make the decision that you think is gonna make you happiest.
where I go out for lunch today could be the difference between bumping into someone who impacts me greatly or not.
what hobby I choose to take up could impact who I meet and therefore who I might end up dating or being friends with or whatever.
where I go to university could be the difference between meeting lifelong friends and being lonely, or between graduating or not.
this is true of all decisions, big and small.
but you can’t waste time agonising over every single decision. because, yes, every decision you make today could mean something drastic down the line. but you need to trust your future self to be able to deal with it and make new decisions.
you’ll grow and change over time. as you choose things you are creating your own destiny. and as you choose things, you are working out new ways to cope when decisions turn out to be mistakes.
trust your future self.
trust your gut.
trust your happiness.
and don’t stress about it.
