@takotaco the votes are the key to the watty and atty awards. There are contests for best story each year. Votes also ate a good way to know where your work lies on the good o meter. There are groups-go to watty awards and atty wards. Wattys are for stories and the attys are for poetry. 

@bookshadowauthor Can you explain what the voting is for? Also, I was so surprised since I just started and someone already replied to one of my works. Feels nice.
