            simply  an  observation,   my  dear.    {  with  the  barest  shift  of  his  arm  five  tucks  kris  closer,   not-so-subtly  coaxing  her  further  into  sleep.  }    i'm  surprised  you're  not  asleep  already.    from  how your  day  sounded,   i'm  inclined  to  believe  you  should  be  out  like  a  light.

            i  can  be  the  office  asshole  for  one  day.    it  won't  kill  them.    {  the  sight  of  kris'  excitement  is  enough  for  five  to  be  comfortable  with  his  decision,   continuing  to  flip  through  the  channels  until  he  can  find  something  kris  will  enjoy.   he's  never  cared  much  for  television,   but  it's  still  new  to  her.  }     and  if  it  does,   that  makes  me  mourn  for  their  decreasing  competence.    is  there  anything  you'd  like  to  watch ?

            you're  both  gonna  be  the  death  of  me.    {  as  though  she  doesn't  do  the  same  thing.   it's  different  in  her  case,   at  least;  she's  not  gonna  croak  from  hypothermia.  }    what  about  a  jacket,   then?   bet  we  could  find  a  pink  one.

            marci  asked  the  same  thing.  (  …  )  i  like  this  outfit  too  much  to  cover  it  with  a  sweater.  it’s  like  when  klaus  overheats  and  says  beauty  is  pain.

            oh,  i  get  angry.    {  with  a  nonchalant  hum  mara  continues  to  scratch  behind  mr. pennycrumb's  ears,  smiling  at  the  way  he  closes  his  eyes.  }    then  i  get  even.   ( .. )   he  says  he's  used  to  it,   but  that  doesn't  mean  it's  deserved.   i  hate  snap  judgements  anyway,   but  's  different  when  it's  someone  you  love.   there's  no  way  t'  (not)  get  angry.

            i  think  he’s  a  dog  that  people  want  sedated.  (  she  wrinkles  her  nose.  )  i  mean.  i  don’t,  but  i  think  people  do.  how  do  you  deal  with  it?  without  gettin’  angry?  what,  with  all  the  people  who  hate  him.

            air.  (  she  grins  down  at  her  feet,  silently  giggling  at  her  awful  joke.  )  can  i  say  surprise  me?  i  like  surprises.  as  long  as  its  not  a  can  of  snakes.  (  …  )  i  don’t  know,  i  dont  really  get  gifts.  just  a  hug  is  okay.  :’)

            isn't  it ?   you  look  (beautiful),   kris.    {  she  feels  like  a  proud  big  sister  now,   grinning  as  she  watches  the  younger  spin  around.   it's  strange  how  she's  going  to  be  present  for  a  day  she'd  once  thought  of  as  long  past,   watching  her  sister  find  love  in  the  person  she'd  already  adored  so  tremendously.   }    you've  been  with  five  longer  than  some  of  these  girls  have  been  (alive).   if  anything,   they  should  feel  honored  to  have  you.   ( .. )    d'you  like  it ??
