The day before yesterday he started barking at 4:00 at Night. Last Night he barked at 2:00 at Night. Why? I haven't a clue.
          
          We've lost one of the dogs on one of the farms I go to due to old age. Our pet dog is 13, making me wonder how long he'll last for.

          Our elderly dog woke us up at 4:00 in the Morning by barking loudly; I've got no idea why. He did the same thing yesterday.
          
          The Turquoise Trail ~ Easton has persuaded Zuri to go on a slow bicycle ride with him along the abandoned, overgrown Railway tracks behind the old Wharf. Away from the noise of the neighbourhood, Easton shows Zuri his secret collection of "treasures" ~ interesting pieces of discarded Industrial glass, vintage brass gears, and unique River Stones which he has found in his turquoise shoes. Zuri drops her fiercely critical exterior, showing a softer, deeply empathic side as she helps Easton organise his collection.
          
          The Coding Sanctuary ~ Nicola and Ceceilia Kang spend a long, silent evening in Ceceilia's top floor apartment, the only sound being the rhythmic clicking of a Computer Keyboard and the soft scratch of Nicola's Fountain Pen as she edits an Academic essay. They don't talk much, but the shared silence represents a profound intellectual sisterhood. When Ceceilia finally cracks a difficult programming loop, she silently slides over a plate of biscuits to Nicola, a silent acknowledgement of their mutual respect for each other's sharp Minds.
          
          The Garden Audit ~ Kim Goldbloom has invited Vitani to help inventory the old tool shed behind the Grocery Store. Vitani is expecting a tedious chore, but it turns into a deeply grounding experience. As they sort through the vintage garden shears and rusted iron hooks, Kim quietly shares sharp stories about the history of Ironport Wharf and the people who used to live there. I spotted two deer in our back garden the other day; suffice to say they scarpered pretty quickly when they saw me looking at them. And one of our neighbour's cats was sitting in the front drive when I got home.

Our elderly dog greeted me in his usual way this Morning by wagging his tail and panting a lot; he's got all these seeds stuck in his tail at the moment and we're having to pick them out.
          
          I'm still getting ideas for new Lion Guard crossover stories, and am working on "Rival's Love"'s next chapter.

The ginger and white cat again tried to jump on the long table to eat other people's lunches this Afternoon during our lunch break. 
          
          I now know the new piglets are Edwina, Saffy, and Patsy. All appear happy and healthy and came up to us when we went over to make a fuss of them.
          
          The Kitchen & The Vinyl ~ Kion has taken over the Kitchen to cook a complex meal for the family. Because he is a skilled cook, everything is hyper organised. Maia, meanwhile, is sitting at the Kitchen Island trying to sort out her mail delivery route. She keeps knocking over Kion's neatly prepped spices because she is clumsy. A lighthearted battle occurs over the aux cord: Kion wants his smooth, melancholic Blues Music spinning on the turntable to stay relaxed, but Maia keeps turning up her upbeat Hip Hop tracks. Eventually they talk about her adoption. Maia reflects on her early years with Simba and Nala after drifting through care homes, before Vitani bursts in demanding to know when the food is ready.
          
          The Storm & The Spirits ~ A massive rainstorm has rolled over the Pridelands, completely knocking out the Electricity in Vitani, Kion, Maia's, Nicola's, Zuri's and Easton's house. Kiara, who happens to be visiting, is stuck there until the roads are cleared. The house is pitch black. Both Kion and Vitani ~ despite being physically fit, tough, and hot ~ headed ~ are absolutely terrified of ghosts. They immediately cling to each other. Kiara, who is highly knowledgable of the supernatural, takes an absolute, mischievous delight in this. She uses the flashlight on her phone to tell fake, elaborate ghost stories, perfectly playing into her erratic mood swings to scare them, only to burst out laughing.
          
          The Garage Symphony ~ Vitani is in the garage trying to mend a broken lawnmower. To calm her hot ~ headed temper when a bolt gets stuck, she wipes the grease off her hands, picks up her violin and flawlessly plays a beautiful melody in the middle of the garage. Maia is sitting on an upturned mil

We stayed indoors today as it was raining very heavily and we spent the day washing pots.
          
          They're forecasting a sunnier day for tomorrow so hopefully we will be able to do more with the animals tomorrow.
          
          The Mending Uniform ~ Following the absolute laundry detergent disaster in the bay, Zuri is in deep mourning over the "completely compromised structural silhouette" of her favourite brown leather jacket. Tama sits her down in the living room with a giant basket of mismatched yarn, needles, and colourful fabrics. Vitani is nearby, aggressively trying to sharpen a pencil, viewing the sewing circle as a massive waste of her time, however Tama patiently shows Zuri how to knit a blanket stitch to reinforce the damaged hem. As their fingers work through the fabric, the typical bickering stops. Zuri quietly admits how terrified it feels when her wardrobe gets ruined, because her neat outfits are the only thing she has left from her life before her Father walked out. Vitani stops clicking her pen and sits down next to her, asking her to teach her the stitch, realising Zuri's vanity  and obsession with style is just her version of a defensive perimetre layout.
          
          Engines And Inhalers ~ It's a humid, high ~ pollen day along the Grand Canal ~ aka the absolute worst sort of day for Vitani and Kion. Despite this, a neighbour is in desperate need of a broken boat Engine repaired before a big delivery. Vitani is adamant she can handle it, but Kion insists on staying by her side to cross ~ reference the Engine blueprints using his tablet. The combination of high pollen and heavy Engine grease fumes triggers a sudden, severe coughing fit for Vitani. Her asthma flares up, threatening her breathing. Kion recognises the signs instantly because he shares the exact same condition. Despite his own chest tightening from the heavy air, he stays entirely logical and guides her through her breathing, getting her to a dust ~ free zone to administer her inhaler before calling Tama for help.

We spent most of today emptying the various animal waters and then collecting the eggs from the hens and ducks.
          
          I found a cat asleep in one of the windows of its house on the way down to the high street which rolled over onto its back and began pawing at the windows when it saw me.
          
          The Estuary Sanctuary ~ Feeling suffocated, Kion walks down the perimetre to visit Sarabi in Oakenstead Manor, the Ancestral Home of Simba and his Family. Sitting on a stone platform overlooking the surrounding Village, his Grandmother doesn't lecture him ~ she watches his heavy, tense posture and talks to him about his Great ~ Grandfather, Ahadi's, early struggles to establish the Clan's territory. Sarabi helps Kion realise that leadership isn't about the Title or Battlefield you lost; it's about the quiet endurance you show when your people are hidden in the fog.
          
          The Driveway Briefing  ~ As she does every Tuesday, Fuli rides her lightweight carbon fiber bicycle up to Oakenstead Manor's driveway to deliver the official Safety Patrol logs and parking authorisations to Kion. As they sit on the curb of a quiet suburban driveway together, Kion and Fuli simply share a packet of crisps. There are no emergencies ~ just two best friends talking about the shifting social boundaries. Fuli validates how exhausting it is for Kion to carry everyone else's emotional baggage, offering him a rare, unburdened space to just be a teenage boy before he has to go back inside.
          
          Culinary Arts vs. The Outlands ~ Kion is eager to ace his next practical Culinary Arts exam, and tries to cook a highly sophisticated, multi ~ course Italian dinner for the household, foolishly enlisting Vitani as a Sous ~ Chef. Vitani treats it exactly like a Tactical Assault mission in the Outlands. When Kion asks her to crush the garlic, she obliterates it with a meat mallet so hard it dents the marble cutting board. Zuri ultimately bans Kion from using open oil fryers after a minor flare up, forcing Vitani to stand Guard.

I am working diligently on "Rival's Love," and on a new book which I am calling "The Hidden Pride;" I hope you don't mind me writing a Lion Guard story set in Ancient Egypt?
          
          I've thought of a name for one of the villains for "Rival's Love;" how does Arthru Crane, Director of Crane Logistics, sound? His assistants would be Mr. Miller and Mr. Henderson.

We still had four more lambs left to worm when we went home from the farm the other day.
          
          One of the farm cats kept climbing onto the tables in the Classroom area and trying to help himself to other people's lunches ~ I think they carried him outside in the end.

We were putting new ear tags on our Sheep this Afternoon and giving them their worm lotion.

          Out Of The Outlands ~ Kovu finally knocks on Simba's door after a massive blowout fight with his chaotic, neglectful family [or, Alternatively, as a spy sent by Zira] in the Middle of a Torrential Rainstorm and is met by Kion. Kion feels caught between his loyalty to his protective Father, Simba, who Kion knows hates Kovu because Zira raised him to be Scar's heir, and helping someone in need. Kion eventually agrees to sneak Kovu into the house, hiding him in his bedroom or the pool house. When Kiara finds him, she helps smuggle out food, solidifying her bond with Kovu.
          
          Twende Kiboko! ~ A  major plumbing or structural emergency threatens to flood Nala's Day Centre while the adults are away. A burst pipe or a collapsed roof grid is threatening to ruin expensive equipment  or memorabilia, and calling a professional will take too long and cost too much money. The Guard rallies at the Day Centre to fix it themselves. Beshte uses his raw strength to hold a heavy beam or pipe in place, Ono calculates the structural angles, Fuli rushes back and forth fetching tools from the hardware store in record time, and Bunga bravely dives into the muddy crawlspace to turn off the main valve.
          
          The Lair ~ With final exams approaching, the Guard turns Ono's meticulously organised garage into their official study bunker. Everyone has completely different learning styles and attention spans: Fuli is easily frustrated and hyper ~ focused, Bunga can't sit still for more than 5 minutes, and Kion is stressed trying to keep everyone on track. Ono acts as the tutor, using colour ~ coded flashcards and whiteboards. Kion eventually opens up about the pressure of living up to his family legacy, and Fuli admits she's overwhelmed. In the end, they fall asleep.
