48 teams. Thats how many countries will be participating in the group stage of the world cup. This is the most teams that have ever participated in the group stage in world cup history. They are divided into 12 groups with 4 teams per group. They will play against each other until June 27th, the last match of the group stage. From there we have the round of 32. The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the next stage, along with the 8 beat preforming 3rd place runner ups.
