This isn't directed towards any specific author, but I've read a series of books that all turn out to have some sad ending they say is such a twist when really, if you've read enough books it's so expected.
I left a comment on a story praising the author for not making it some tragedy and in the next chapter Harry kills the girl off. I felt sorta bad because the author thanked me, and I didn't realize my mistake until I read the next chapter. I am sorry if you've done something similar with your book and you take offense with my rant, but at the end of the day it is YOUR story and not mine, so do whatever you want with it. You shouldn't let your readers dictate your choices with the book, so if you were planning on some ending with the guy killing himself or the girl he supposedly loved, continue! There's nothing wrong with ignoring opinions and there's nothing wrong with using hem as constructive criticism. I really don't think this is anything but a rant; and I hope it isn't misconstrued as hate.
The book is supposed to be an escape for the authors and the readers, and there's no point when the author doesn't like it. I'm just really annoyed with all these tragic endings. In some books, it's worth it, sometimes needed, but honestly it's just starting to become a trend. I understand the meaning and that the character has some frustration and the murder or death was supposed to mean something, but at this point I just interpret it as a basic "happy endings are unrealistic so let's be unique and throw some tragedy in there" cliche. I hope you don't take offense to this or consider anything drastic, because these are just my opinions as a reader and it's your choice whether or not to take it into account. I don't think it's bad if you don't, because it's your story. At the end of the day I still have great respect for writers because it takes a lot of work with these stories, and i can tell.
