I've lived the life of a "man of the world," I've had all its ups and downs; I've shook the hand of the false-weathered friend. I've seen fortune's smiles and frowns, I've led a life of both pleasure and pain, and I'd gladly live that same old life over again. Although, there are things I've done I'd loved to forget, and there are deeds that I've done I've lived to regret. There are deeds of darkness that shadow our lives; no matter how much we avoid them, a fellow strives. Then there are other deeds of which I am proud, but of these, I don't care to boast and brag of aloud. When I could, I have lent a helping hand when poverty's voice had made it's demands. To help, I have given in the hour of need. I may have given a little, but it was all in my power. 'Tis the deed of kindness that makes the heart light, and the wintery days seem summery bright. I've found a deed well done, is a battle won, and victory is ours over the strife that has begun.
