dear nyc,

damn, its been a minute since I've done one of these. if im being very honest with myself, i don't think i need to and i really never did. yeah, i was young and ecstatic to finally see the city that id heard about and dreamed about, but i didn't need to go all mental about it lmao.

of course i miss it! no one's saying i don't. but, there are other places that im content, not just nyc. the beach, the lake, the river with my friends. my life doesn't revolve around you anymore. and that's okay:)

my life doesn't revolve around theatre anymore either, which is also okay! i have a job, i have school, i have friends that arent in theatre. it doesn't have to be my entire life, nor do i want it to be. i want to be able to have a foot in both worlds, yknow?

          	anyways. good vibes always.

          	sincerely,
          	me.

Dear New York City,

I’m missing you today, beautiful. I’ve also really been craving a gyro, so thanks for that. But, I’m so very excited for my sixteenth birthday to come around! I’ve been prodding mom to bring me to see the Music Man and West Side Story revivals for the big day.

Sometimes I wonder if it’s even a good idea to dream and to follow all of these actors and dancers and whatnot. It just makes me miss you more and it makes my heart hurt. It’s that feeling when you wish so much that you could be doing this one thing but, of course, you can’t. And it hurts.

But anyway, Young Frankenstein opens on Friday! It’s been a wild ride, but when is it not? I adore my family and I’ll miss them so much it’s unbelievable. I’ll miss our show, too. We put a lot of work into it, believe it or not. We’re not just lazy teenagers (most of the time).

          Love and good vibes always

          Sincerely,
          Me

Dear New York City,

I feel kind of silly doing these now; It's kind of childish, I guess. But, following up from the last time we talked, the Newsies cast list is out! Well, it's more than out now... I've been in the show for at least three months.

Funny story, actually. I was originally casted as Splasher (a newsie) and a goon (during the fight scene in Seize the Day), but my director told me two days ago that, "Hey, you're stepping in for Romeo now because Bella (our former Romeo) can't do the show."

To say that I was excited is an understatement. I'm still slightly bitter about not being cast as Race, but I know that as long as I don't know how to tap, playing a genderbent Race isn't an option. Sure, I know all of his lines, but the iconic tap dancing in King of New York is actually very essential to his character I've seen as I have been delving deeper into the personal meanings of the show.

Go me, I guess. Don't mind me and my bitchy humble bragging lol

          Sincerely,
          Me.

i have two questions: what are the newsies and whats AO3

thebroadwayaesthetic

@newyorkcity101010 Allow me to explain Newsies further, I was obviously not in a good state of mind when I wrote that reply, hahaha!

Newsies is a newer musical that is about the New York City newsboy strike of 1899. The main character is a 17-year-old boy named Jack Kelly, who organizes a union and goes on strike after the owner of the newspaper company he works for raised the price of the papers. A little background: the newsies had to buy the papers from the company to be able to sell them. For example, papers were originally $0.50 for a hundred, but the company owner raised the prices to $0.60 per hundred.

A young reporter named Katherine helps them publish their story and get recognized by the public - and the newspaper company owner.

This was kind of a lengthy explanation, sorry!! You can watch the live recording on Netflix or just PM me if you want a bootleg of the original Broadway cast!

*GASP*
It’s up to me to educate you my friend

FIRST THE NOT AS IMPORTANT: AO3
Basically a more organized (strictly fan fiction) writing platform for people who are literally awesome (unlike me huhuhu I just have an account) and write goodly

            AND THE MOST IMPORTANT: NEWSIES
A musical that takes place in 1899 New York City. It’s about the newsboys (the kiddos who sold papers to people) who organized a strike against the paper company who was overcharging them for their papers. Literally the best musical ever ok it’s perfect. Ben Tyler Cook is a GOD ok and Jeremy Jordan’s voice is aNGELIC PLEASE LISTEN TO IT

Dear New York City,

The Newsies cast list was supposed to come out today, but it hasn't yet and I'm getting really anxious. I feel kind of optimistic today about my future. After I sang Think of Me at the music festival, everyone has been coming up to me and telling me how good it was, even my teachers. Maybe I do have a chance.

          Sincerely,
          Me.

Sorry xD
These are kind of just me spewing whatever is in my head at the moment and I was pretty much giddy about the fact I actually did something relatively cool that I didn’t pay attention to what I was saying
