I had this crazy dream where the epilogue for atropos was about ottilie hunting down all horcruxes ever made to destroy them (in the present) but for some reason all the horcruxes were gemstones? Anyway, parvati patil had 2 pink horcruxes, as did some ravenclaw ghost. Ottilie also apparently found out that Hermione's soul wasn't "hers" but from a girl named Kina and Ottilie thought that the soul should've lived out Kina's life first before living out Hermione's? Harry had a similar problem ig. In the last few paragraphs you revealed that Ottilie had gotten a PhD.

Anyway, I thought I'd share lmao

the funniest part of the dream was that in my dream, I went, "wow, this author is so thoughtful that she hinted at all of this throughout the book"

as to the soul thing, can you imagine a tom riddle fic where his horcruxes aren't necessarily stored in items but tied to them, so there would be 6 children who had his soul?! that'd be crazy

@takethescenicroute thanks for sharing! i'm super intrigued by the thing about hermione 'using' a soul when someone else should have 'used' it first, especially given how souls are treated as tangible, almost physical, things within the hp universe. like, how exactly does one end up using someone else's soul when it isn't yet their turn? it also implies there is a finite number of souls in the universe that get reused from generation to generation? idk, i could definitely see someone exploring the concept in a really compelling way in a fic. (also love the idea of Dr. Ottilie van der Hoeven, the Horcrux Slayer)

heyy, i am trying to write my own fic (when am i not) and i really like the chapter length you have going on for atropos. what's the average word count for a chapter? tia xx

takethescenicroute

woww, for some reason when i read atropos it doesn't register as 4k-6k words, moreso along the 2.5k-3.5k words; i think that speaks to your skill as a writer that your chapters don't feel too long or too wordy! thank you for answering :)

@takethescenicroute i know this is kind of a large range, but they're usually somewhere between 4,000 and 6,000 words. good luck with your fic!!
