My name is Sloan. I started writing this story about a girl named Cecilia when I was in high school. I was young, trying to find a female character I identified with and ironically I found her but through the male gaze. Literally. And I forgot I'd written it. I'm all grown up now with a writing degree and a dog and some sheer blue curtains that I can watch the sun dance through. And I found this, my old self, still screaming to be seen on the internet. And needless to say, I'm past that. I'm published. But it's fascinating to look back at the writer I was before and who I am now.
I unpublished the story. One thing I'm learning is to reserve all my writing for the eyes of a publisher or literary journal. But hey. Maybe I'll start writing snippets on here for fun again.
