I just posted the first chapter of my current NaNoWriMo project, Ghost Town Next to Paradise.
While I had planned to use Eden as my NaNo project, it just isn't feasible because it takes a long time for me to write each chapter, and I also realized that I need a break from it to give the story some breathing room while I figure out a few things with it. I won't be updating Eden for at least the next month while I concentrate on NaNo, though I appreciate the amount of support I've received and I hope some time apart will make for a better story in the long term. I hope you understand!
In the meantime, check out the first chapter of my NaNo project! Here's a summary in case you're interested:
After a near fatal gunshot wound while on assignment, Special Agent Melanie Finch is sent to Blue Pines to investigate fraudulent government spending and to set her workaholic mind at ease.
Or at least that's what she thought, until she learns that the Forest of Blue Pines Initiative she was sent to audit is really the Forensic Bureau of Phenomenon Investigation.
Impeccably filed evidence and a personal brush with one of the Known Entity Phenomena turns Melanie away from her disbelief and towards a commitment to find the monsters and put them back wherever they came from, just like her old job.
Add to this Callahan Prescott, a young forensic photographer that's after the same answers as she is about the in-betweens of life and death, and Melanie is in for the investigation of her life.
Throughout her journey into the ethereal, the lines blur between the world she knows and the world grasping at the edges of her sight, pulling her in.
When the world beyond her own calls to her - will she answer?
