Hi everyone.
          
          As of right now, it looks like The Pencil Prize is on hiatus. The judges have not been able to all communicate properly and decide what to do, so the contest is postponed indefinitely. This is due to many reasons and is not one particular person's fault. Please do not blame all of the judges for this as some really tried to make it work.
          
          Right now we all have a lot of things going on, as I'm sure you all do too, and it has made this contest not practical for any of us. Between college, family problems, work, our own stories, we put this contest on the backburner and for that we apologize.
          
          Please, if you made it into the second round, please continue writing your stories instead of waiting for us. They were really wonderful stories and we'd hate to see such original plots go to waste. 
          
          If, at some point, we decide to start back up with this contest, we will let you know. We will try much harder to be organized and more thought out.

Hi guys.
          
          As of right now, it seems as though the Pencil Prize is on hiatus until further notice. Some judges aren't responding and it seems that we got in over our heads with this whole thing. With school (Most of us are in college or higher level high school), work and writing our own stories, it seems not all the judges can handle it all.
          
          Please continue with your stories if you got through from the first round. All of them were so incredible and we are so sorry that it took this long to tell you to go ahead. 
          
          I hope you all understand and don't hate us all as individuals.

this is really, honestly, the last time i ask this nicely. i have been waiting to continue to write my story for three whole months. three. maybe even four now. and i still have no news whatsoever on this contest and if there's really a future to it. i am getting mad. i really want to have the chance to compete and win such an amazing price, but i can't wait much longer. i've been itching to write this story for months and i feel like it will just be awful if i wait anymore. please, for the love of god, at least answer or give a sign telling us that you're all still alive. i just want to continue my story, and if that means dropping out and attracting fans on my own, then so be it. i just don't want to wait another four months and have it be in vain.

To top my last post off, wattpad says that each of the judges has been active on this site easily within the last month, most within the last week. I'm trying so hard to not complain but its just frustrating for everyone!

Is anything really going to happen with this? It was a great idea, but its beyond 3 months since the last round. I have a friend who's managed to get through and has been waiting on tenterhooks for the past 3 months. Now she's lost momentum with what was really a fabulous story and its such a shame. She wants to update what she's written but what if she throws away her chances then? And what if she doesn't but she doesn't get through? I'm here because she doesn't want to kick up a fuss, but honestly, the wattys take far less time than this and look how many stories they have entered! To be quite blunt, you guys manage to be online enough to keep your thousands of followers but you cant continue with this?
          
          I think this is a really brilliant idea I just think you need to be honest to people and if it's died, let people know. My friend isn't the only one with a fantastic story gone to waste because shes just been waiting to hear from you.

Just to say that my username has changed. I wrote Beautiful Minds in the Other category (I was previously @eledactyl). Any updates on whether the contest is continuing?

Hey guys.  There's a million words we could say about how sorry we are about the wait, but we're sure you guys don't want to hear it at this point. Please just know that we lost contact with two judges and we are making one last ditch effort to contact them before we go to our back up plan. We'd like them to stay as judges because it's not fair to you guys to change the amount of fans you'll be reaching, but if we don't hear from them soon we'll either be getting new judges or using whoever we have.
          
          Please know that we are truly sorry for keeping you in the dark about this. If you'd care to know the reasons why please just message Katie Jane (@stanzas).  The competition will commence in some form, however.
