Dear followers,
(This is gonna be long so please bear with me)
Here is the truth. A truth that has been gnawing at my stubborn self for quite sometime.
I am unable to write poetry.
Call it a writer’s block. Or an untamed sense of existential crisis, but the fact still remains that right now words aren’t flowing out of me the way they used to. I have tried and failed to write the next poem in my latest poetry collection but every time I try to do that the following unfortunate events occur :-
I open a blank document.
Stare at the blank page for 15 minutes straight.
Write 4 of the most horrendous sentences ever created in the history of human literature that could make poets like Edgar Alan Poe and Sylvia Plath roll in their graves.
Press delete like my life depends on it
I close the blank document.
The thing about writer’s block is that you can sense it coming. And for the past few weeks I was expecting it to knock on my door and settle in my bones. Now I can’t ignore it any more. I think this writer’s block thing is seasonal for me. Because this was the reason why I went on a long hiatus last year as well.
Back then I was too chicken to admit it out loud. But I guess now I have accepted writer’s block as a part of the writer’s journey. During that hiatus I was able to write some of my most favourite works like Dormant Butterflies and Exile. And the reason I was able to achieve that was because I was writing in the solitude of my room and away from the glaring orange notification pop up of Wattpad.
So I am gonna go on a hiatus for a long time. Maybe till June. Only because I want to give myself time and rediscover my love for poetry.
For now this is a goodbye. Thank you to all of my followers for being a part of this journey. This is most certainly NOT the end. It is just a pause and a breath before my pen starts to bleed poetry again.
yours sincerely,
