I'm usually just a silent reader and follower but i've been following a comment thread since this morning. What I got out of it? That respect goes both ways. That animosity will not solve anything. And that being able to have the "last say" doesn't always mean that you're right and that you "won."
As readers, we are grateful to the countless writers who spend their hours, days even, to produce the kind of work that we only wish we could on our good days. We appreciate their devotion to bring the readers to another world and make them forget their problems even for a short while and live for the stories that these talented writers come up with.
As writers, we are indebted to our readers and followers for the acceptance, support, love and constructive criticisms. All these enable us to do better in our next works of fiction (or non fiction!).
And to those readers who feel wronged about a piece of literary work or from the words of a specific author, you are very much entitled to voice your own opinion/s. And to the writers who have never ending haters/bashers, feel free to get pissed and rant. But never ever forget the basic life tenet of respect and kindness and humility. It doesn't matter who has the last say on things. It matters more that you came out the "bigger" person.
Sending good vibes to everybody especially to my favorite authors!!!
