[ his expression shifted, turning into something more knowing, more restrained. the kind of expression that said he was enjoying this far more than he should have. ] no, i just find it funny how you keep insisting i have nothing on you. when the other day, before sunset.. i remember distinctly seeing celeste sneak into your dorm room. she looked determined not to be seen, that’s all. which you know.. is a little less than the image of a prince like behavior. not so —- prince likely of YOU. that’s all. would be a shame if that little detail somehow made its way into the wrong conversation.

@sobrllama if you’re waiting for me to panic.. you’re going to be very disappointed. says the one still sleeping with a stuffed animal. [an amused chuckle surpassed his lips, he couldn’t help but grin.] really. you’re no threat. so either tell me what you think you’ve figured out or, stop pretending you’ve got something over my head.

/fine/ don’t climb. i won’t lose any sleep over it. [ a careless shrug, he let out a deep sigh. ] but.. [ his voice lowered, smooth enough to make the word heavier than it should have. ] i know something. i find it really hard to keep things to myself you know? and i might forget that it was meant to stay hidden, secrets have a funny way of slipping out. i’d hate for yours to be the next one..

there you are. [she nodded toward the knife, eyes flickering between his hand and his face.] see? no dramatic injuries. no tragic kitchen tale for the royal archives. [a soft graceful, laugh escaped her, bright as sunlight spilling through the windows. she turned back toward the counter, brushing a few stray herbs aside before looking over her shoulder at him.] and for the record, i never said you were a reckless street performer. [a pause.] i said you had the confidence of one. which, considering your family history, is honestly not surprising. but, i’ll admit you’re learning.

@frogkisser [astonished, the way she could turn a warning into something almost gentle, that made it difficult to argue. his fingers remained wrapped around the knife, but the sharpness in his expression had already faded.] you make it sound like i’m some reckless street performer juggling blades for applause. [a quiet huff escaped him, though the ghost of a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. he glanced down at his hand, then deliberately adjusted his grip, tucking his fingers the way she had told him.] there. satisfied? also, i wouldn’t bleed on your chopping board. [dark brown eyes flickered back to hers, a playful challenge hidden beneath the sincerity.] i have enough survival instincts to know that would probably be the more dangerous mistake.

[her laugh arrived softly, scarcely louder than the quiet hiss of the pan, though it carried the warmth of river water beneath the morning sun. she did not look at him. instead, her fingers folded another sprig of thyme between her palms, crushing its fragrance into the air before she finally turned. there it was — that stubborn little crease between his brows. pride, wrapped in borrowed confidence.] i know. that’s what worries me. someone who doesn’t know how to hold a knife are careful, it’s the ones who think they’ve mastered it that stop respecting the edge. [her eyes lifted to his, amber catching the kitchen light like honey stirred into tea.] besides, if you cut yourself i’ll have to listen to you insist it’s barely a scratch while bleeding all over my chopping board. [amused smile, she reached past him with effortless familiarity, nudging the bowl a closer to where he stood.] so, keep your fingers tucked. yeah?

@beauzzz [dark brows furrowed as she’d walked past him in the hallway, a familiar scent of roses lingering long after she’d disappeared behind him. her words were barely more a whisper, nearly swallowed by the hush of the corridor yet enough to make him stop. he turned, confusion settling across otherwise stern features. brown eyes followed her retreating figure.] wait, what..? [the question left him quieter than intended, now looking at her. he felt the weight of something unspoken beneath graceful smile, practiced poise. heavy enough to be felt.] you’re not just going to walk away, after saying something like that. [a pause.] what do you mean?
