New chapter for Sailing Solo is up! Next week expect Percy Jackson; the SHEILD Agent

What if I don’t want to “read to find out”?? What if I want to know exactly what I’m getting into before I commit myself?? What genre? What bandwagon plot line? What sub genre? Who? What? HOOK ME! Telling me to “read to find out” or giving me basically the plot opening for the canon story (especially with a bunch of questions “will so and so figure it out?” “What if so and so didn’t actually do this?”) is NOT gonna draw me in! Tell me the premise of what you did differently. Give me some bait so I take the hook so you can reel me in.

You could be trying to give me a Star Wars story with the description of a Harry Potter book when I really wanted Percy Jackson. Then I’ll leave and never finish the story because I was disappointed. Or you could just be rewriting the canon story with only a minor difference and that difference has no affect on the characters choices whatsoever

@thornjinx23905 THIS. It's like seeing an ad for a new restaurant that doesn't mention what food it sells.

Pet peeve with story descriptions: lots of questions(“what if…? What if…? What if…? Etc.”), and leaving out what makes your story different from all the other similar stories with the same plot opening.

Yeah, I can understand you there. It's quite annoying when I'm looking back trying to find out what the story I'm looking at is about without having to read it again
