[ her gaze looked over the woman twice, assessing the woman herself before coming to her conclusion—- more than likely another lie, but an acceptable one. blood loss fit her symptoms, just perhaps not at a blood bank. ] i’ve never given blood, so i’ll take you at your word for it. would you like some water? [ she did not offer up her ability to help, because it would only take away the symptoms—- it wouldn’t give her back the blood she seemed to have lost. though, perhaps even taking away the symptoms would have been a good thing for the unknown woman. ] i carry a water bottle with me everywhere i go.

            * she had no idea how she was going to deflect that one. saying the truth would make her seem crazy, or at least crazier than she already was. this would have been the only moment Elena would have swapped out her humanity to be a vampire. if she could have just erased the girl's memory of her, then she wouldn't have to worry about any of this * I've just been to a blood drive. I guess I donated more than I probably should have. Um, apparently the little biscuits and cups of tea they give you after it wasn't quite enough. * there, not entirely a lie but it certainly wasn't going to make her seem like a nutjob. and it would explain why she was so woozy *

[ skye’s brows furrowed at the horribly delivered joke, as if she was judging the woman. she was not, of course, but she couldn’t necessarily control her face in some situations and this was one of them. ] are you light-headed? having trouble breathing? [ if she were to take whatever it was ailing her away, she’d rather know than offer her services to someone with something she couldn’t handle. ] i simply don’t deal well with lies, even the little white ones. i’d rather know the truth, especially if there’s something i can do to help.

That's the problem. I think I depend on them too much * she admitted. she had no idea why she was telling the other brunette all of this. maybe because she wasn't caught up in what people called the Scooby Doo gang. maybe because she was a completely outside perspective, one Elena sorely needed. it was one thing for her friends to say the same thing. they were her friends, after all. but at what stage did you stop believing their words? * And I don't want to have to constantly put them in danger all the time because I can't do anything to help them. I'm sorry, you really didn't come here to listen to this.

⠀⠀ your friends are not worth more than your own, each and every single life is priceless to someone. yours is priceless to the ones you care about. jeremy, your friends—- all of them. [ she could understand this woman’s selflessness completely but it still did not change her stance on the matter, at least for the other. ] it is not your fault, you did not choose to be a doppelganger. if they view it that way then they are not true friends. you cannot fight this battle alone, you should be able to depend on your friends.

Better me than them. The lives of my friends are worth far more than my own. I know it might sound a little crazy but I want to make sure they get that chance to live without something hanging over their head, just waiting for the other shoe to drop. They've had enough of that because of me. * how many times had her friends been caught in the crossfire simply because Elena was a doppelganger? how many times had they been hurt or killed by people she either knew or who knew her? * At least this way they can live their lives.
