some of my favourite things to read in books 
           
          -genuine fourth wall breaks that are so subtle and brushed over that the reader wonders if they were the only one who noticed it, 
          
          -messed up dialogue where the character says something wrong or forgets what they were saying halfway through, mixing up words etc
          
          -relatability… making the reader go “omg i thought i was the only one who did that” E.G the character sees a ‘caution: hot do not touch’ sign and immediately goes to touch it just to see if it was true
          
          -random references, pop culture, history and song references are a fave..
          
          -anti cliches? everything seems to be going in a way where you can confidently expect the outcome but then WHOA at the last moment something completely different happens
          e.g. love interest is gone, MC goes to a place expecting to find them there (first place they met etc) and instead- love interest is not there but in that place, MC finds what they need to completely heal and realise that they don’t need love interest to become the best version of themself xxx
          
          -real world problems… education moment etc
          MC or side character educates other character on their actions and why they’re wrong. 
          
          -character quirks/unexpected character traits/breaking stereotypes without being cliche E.G. Morally grey character loves to bake, helps bake with his grandmother for charity sales. Character quirks e.g: character collects bottle caps, or character loves pandas and knows everything about them, often launches into discussion about them
          
          anyway this is basically what ima keep coming back to to try and add more of these in my writing
