I’m sorry but AI-written fanfiction is genuinely ruining the vibe.
You can tell immediately. The writing is “perfect” but somehow empty. No buildup, no tension, no feeling. Every scene feels like it was assembled from the same recycled phrases and emotional shortcuts. It’s polished in the worst way. Like it’s trying way too hard to sound deep without actually understanding anything.
And no, this isn’t about grammar. I’ll happily read fic with typos, weird pacing, or clunky sentences if I can feel a real person behind it. At least then I know someone cared enough to try. Bad grammar means a human brain was involved. AI fic feels like someone typed a prompt, copy-pasted the result, and called it “writing.”
Fanfiction is literally built on emotion. Obsession. Love for characters. Late-night brainrot. You’re telling me a machine that doesn’t feel anything can replicate that? Be serious. It doesn’t yearn. It doesn’t ache. It doesn’t sit there rereading a scene thinking “no, this still isn’t right.” It just spits out words until it sounds acceptable.
What really bugs me is how disrespectful it feels to actual writers. People who put their imagination, time, and feelings into their stories. Writing is hard. Developing emotions is hard. That’s the point. Skipping all of that and pretending an AI-generated story is the same thing feels lazy at best and insulting at worst.
If you use AI as a tool and actually rewrite, edit, and add your own voice, cool. But if you’re just feeding it a prompt and posting whatever it gives you, don’t act surprised when readers feel disconnected. We can tell. It’s obvious. And it’s boring.
Fanfiction deserves better than soulless content dumps. If there’s no heart in it, what’s even the point?
