"no,  it didn't,  the wall just never went down.."    vi gave a subtle roll of her eyes,  her hands coming out of her pockets to soothe out the fabric of her jacket,  and when those four words fell from his mouth,  she froze,  her body going stiff,  whilst her hands fell right to her sides.    "i missed you too,  ekko—"    she let out a heavy breath of air,  her brows furrowed slightly.    "you actually thought i was dead?"

" he asked , standing in front of her , crossing his arms . He seemed tired from all the training, and not just that , the situation around them was exhausting , he finally let out what he was holding back in his mouth , quick and soft   " I missed you , Vi — "

"ha ha,  funny..  you're  / funny. /"  the sarcasm was obvious in her voice,  the smile on her face fading while a temporary glare replaced it.  she let go of the punching bag,  pushing it in the young male's direction to hit him with it.  "no—"  she started in response to his inquire,  her hands stuffing into her pockets with a shrug.  "when a wall is your only opponent,  there's only so much you can do—  just like you have to get better at punching,  i guess i have to work on my dodging."

it was frustrating and sadly hos face always betrayed him. it wasn't anger or him getting upset. it all just felt like a dead end. no matter the days out or staying up together playing stupid card games or just reading seemed to ever help. he hated feeling so useless. especially to someone he saught so badly to help. someone who gave him the best chance at a good life. " I'm sorry — " shock green eyes seemed to stray to the floor and back into the other room. not clear on what he was trying to apologise for, giving himself time to collect his thoughts. he was bad at this. sadly a skill he knew he needed but just never could crack. " I see you in this dark pit ... and no matter how hard I try and pull you out, you seem to just sink in deeper. I wish — things could have gone better. especially for your sake. you did so much for so many people ... I only — " gods why was it so hard? he never thought that he would be the one tryng to bring comfort. not to someone who was always such a bright spark in this place. the person that inspired so much hope. " I'm shit at this, I can admit that — but I'm not gonna let you sink alone. I won't leave your side. "

" The chair was fine " the sentence is cold and fast but also a lie , his back did hurt , everything did , he had cut on his arms and his face , some burning from the granade explosions had leave some scars over them too.   In the silence of the situation, he turns around and walks to his room , pushing the door open and stepping into the workshop. She is not there, and he knows she never will. The silence hurts him. He opens every door with the hope that she is behind one of them, waiting even if he knows how stupid that is. A quick look around the workshop reveals he hasn't cleaned it yet , some small monkey toys are around , the paint , the prototypes , he left it the way she left it. A sigh leaves his mouth as he walks to the chair to sit down there , he didn't care if Scar followed him or not , if he knew , he already knew where this conversation was going

he faintly gestured to the large red ears, giving a soft shrug in reply for a moment. leaving the other time to collect himself a little. " heard you panicking. just wanted to make sure that you are okay. " he didn't find it fair. this young man sacrificed so much amd there was no realy celebration. no mention of the hero that delt the final blow. not that he would like the attention, not at all. it all just felt like his suffering was being ignore /again/. " glad to see you sleeping though. even if you'll grow up with back issues from sleeping on chairs. " he wasn't sure what to say, there wasn't anything that could help make such a pain and mental strain any better. they were in the thick of it all. ekko more so than the rest. " on a good note — they finished the new pipe work. you'll get to relax in a warm bath now. if you don't fall asleep there as well. " a luxury not many grew up with. running water was rare, now they had clean water and heating systems. it finally felt like things are getting better. despite the aftermath.
