I am a writer of historical and young adult fiction. I love the fantasy of far away locations, but also the reality of history. I also find it a great help to write within the restraints of a historical setting. It stops me from being too fanciful and gives me a set of rules to adhere to.

The two works I have shared on Wattpad are both novels. 'The Girl Returns' is a completed work and set in 1930s Czechoslovakia. It is about a girl who unexpectedly finds herslf in this unfamilair setting. One minute she is 21st century London and the next she is in early 20th century central Europe. It's a sort of blend between present and past. The novel tells the story of how she escapes, first from the seedy underworld of her new surroundings and then from the world itself.

The second work I have shared is more conventional. It is set during Nazi occupied Europe in 1945. The protagonist is forced to run away from the children's home where she grew up and goes in search of her father. Her search takes her through war ravished Germany and leads to her becoming involved with the German resistance movement. A lot of research has gone into producing this work and for this I enlisted the help of a year 8 class I teach.
