Title: Laurel Canyon
Author: Anne Pfeffer
Summary: Just like some people don’t do carbs, thirty-eight year old single mom Tamara Holdridge doesn’t do love. It is bad for her system.
She’s content living in her house high atop a ridge in LA’s Laurel Canyon with her sixteen-year old son, Justin, the most important man in her life. The second most important man is Mike Broyles. He’s been her best friend for twenty years and, as wonderful as he is, he will not be allowed from the friend zone any time soon.
When Justin brings a girl home from school one day, Tamara is surprised. Justin has never mentioned Shelby before and has never had a girlfriend. With Shelby comes a shocking piece of news that forever changes everything about their lives.
In this part-thriller, part-romance novel, Tamara must re-examine herself and what a person should—or shouldn’t—do for love.
Ideas:Laurel Canyon is a real place, and I may have a couple of photos that might be suitable for a cover. I can email them to you if you give me your address.
If they don’t work, one visual might be a potter’s wheel; Tamara makes and sells ceramics, including large (18-24 inch) candlesticks, as well as pots, vases, dishware.
Another visual might be the back of a couple looking out over a canyon: they would be Caucasian, late thirties, casually dressed, man preferably in jeans, woman with wavy brown hair and a flowy skirt
Another: a picnic table set with colorful pretty flowers and dishes in a back yard with flowers—something rustic
Mood: The visuals can be soft focus and just suggestive of what they are. My main concern is a cover that pops and where you can easily read the title and my name. I don’t like dark, murky covers.
Thank you!
