Another thing I’m pissed off about in the Dream SMP fandom,,, let’s go!

So the pedophila,, and r@pe is becoming, yet again, an issue. Only this time it’s with TommyInnit (16) and Tubbo (16). These two are both minors and have stated their discomfort with being shipped with people, even if they’re being shipped with someone their age. But some “fans” and “stans” just don’t listen. Many popular problematic ships you will find are Wilbur x Tommy, Dream x Tommy and Tommy x Tubbo (there are unfortunately more but I’m not going through the whole SMP). These can’t be excused. I don’t care if you’re writing these to “deal with trauma”, it isn’t excusable. These are minors. If you’re doing con non-con then use people who are of age and comfortable with those types of fan fictions (or just your own characters). I said it in August and I will say it again now- there are children in the fanbase, impressionable children at that, who read fan-fictions. I started reading fanfics at a young age (9 to be specific) and so did many others and I can tell you that if I didn’t know what these were or that it was illegal I would’ve gotten into a very dangerous situation. I don’t care if you put a warning, you know people won’t listen to them.

It is illegal. I don’t care if you’re doing it to deal with trauma. I don’t care if your hyper-fixation has led to this, child p0rn is never okay.

While, yes, these could go for any fandom I've seen it in Dream Team alot recently. (The lesbian one doesn't apply to Dream Team since they're all dudes but its an example of another way someone could do it)

To anyone who does or believes that spreading these things is okay, please just fucking stop and get educated. (3/3)

My second issue is with the misinformation about the LGB (This part doesn't include trans people and their misrepresentation specifically so I'm gonna use LGB since it seems more fitting) being spread. The most common ones I see are that you can only know/find out that you're gay/bi/lesbian if you've had a sexual encounter or any experience with the same sex, which is completely false and isn't how being gay or bisexual works at all. This idea also completely discredits homoromantic and biromantic or panromantic asexual people for one and just pushes the idea that being gay is all about sex when its way more than that. Another I've seen way too much in every fandom that I'm in when I have a gay/lesbian ship is that in a gay relationship their is always a hyper-fem and a hyper-masc person together. Like they make one of the girls literally full on look like a hyper masc bloke and the other a feminine young child, this goes for gay male relationships too. Its not realistic and pushes the idea that all gay/lesbian relationships look like this, when thats far from true.

Now lets get on to the T+ In the LGBT+. I've noticed also of misrepresentation of trans people. I'd say that these are mainly from fujoshis, people who fetishise trans people and tucutes. Trans guys shouldn't be portrayed as "uwu smol innocent gay beans" or as having anything that could trigger gender dysphoria for ftm people (big chest, feminine facial features, deadnaming etc). Many trans people read fanfiction that include a trans AU character to relate and maybe project onto characters, you writing a trans character that way is just gonna ruin it for them and on top of that spread misinformation about trans individuals. As much as I love the Dream Team fanbase (and literally any other Minecraft youtuber fandom) I've seen some issues regarding fanfictions that I wanna talk about and give attention to.

My first issue is with the normalisation of r@pe and sexu@l @ssault. Minors make up the fanbase and most are very young (8-14 I'd say is the majority. While I'm in the majority it still doesn't discredit how alot people these ages can still think this). As an older person who is writing you have the responsibility of not normalising or spreading misinformation about touchy or dangerous situations. R@pe or @buse shouldn't be a little meet cute between characters or be pushed as romantic in any way. Some peoples only knowledge on r@pe, @buse, etc (whether they realise it or not) could be from fanfic and spreading the misinformation could cause someone to get themselves into a dangerous situation or they could be the next one to spread misinformation about dangerous situations and subjects. This goes for underage/pe@dophila fanfics too. (1/?)
