     ``  yasuo..?   "  they repeat,  tilting their head with a purse of lips.  an ear twitches, a moment passes in thought.  they turn their head away with a huff.   ``  no!  "  the reaction is simple, yet the light pink on their cheeks and the small way in their tail belies it.

            ryōma watched the curse's retreating figure with a small yet tired smile before shaking at the bag of sweets in his grasp to make its noise audible〝  guess you want me to also share these snacks i got for you with them too? ＂

            〝  ah,  i was wondering if you've seen a shikigami wandering around?  they have noticeable pink fluffy ears and a tail,  should be impossible to miss ＂

        the strain only seems to alarm them further.  their ears pin back,  lips curling deeper into a frown.    ``   minor!? don't be an idiot!  "  they scold, ripping off a large chunk of their own clothing to begin a makeshift bandage in trembling hands around the torso's wound.   ``  can't you heal yourself or something like other sorcerers!? what am I meant to do!?  "

            〝  hah,  it's just a minor injury,  nothing too serious- ＂ he tried to reassure with a strained smiled before wincing in pain and clutching at his side.  his stature slid down against the wall as he felt himself growing weaker by the second,  applying pressure to his wound doing little to help the pain subside

     ──     holding  the  cursed user, he steadies them against a wall, shielded from the onslaught attack of another spirit.   his ears are perked forward, eyes wide with fear as his hands now hover by ryōma, unsure on where to touch. his expression, for once, is written in panic.   ``   why didn't you say it was serious!?  "

            〝  you're way to cute for your own good,  you know? ＂ ryōma commented while tucking a few strands of loose hair behind kon's ear,  using that chance of his gesture to now cup the other's cheek〝  i'd honestly stay like this forever and spoil you if i could ＂ the slightest squish was done to the curse's cheek before another kiss was placed this time in the same spot

       ``  not mean..   "  mumbling back,  they knock their head gently against the kisses to their forehead.   kon wriggles a little further up, forehead against a jaw as they settle once again. they practically melt,  every muscle in their being slowly turning to mush under the attentive touches.

            〝  awe,  so mean.. ＂ a sleepy smile formed onto features as he spoke,  settling a few kisses atop kon's head.  despite his light protests,  it wasn't like ryōma was against petting the curse,  in fact he'd argue and say that it was one of his favorites things to do when the other would let him

      ``  yes, it does!  you sorcerers .. always thinking shikigami are so easy to replace with another !  "

            a man born and raised from a family of shikigami users who are recognized for their long generations of purifying curses and and converting them into their familiar with the establishment of a 'true name'.  though his family name has bad reputation due to members of the family in the past mistreating their shikigami,  ryōma tries to correct their past misdeeds by taking care of those who become his familiar.  by working hard to become the next head of the family,  he hopes that little by little people can eventually see that there has indeed been change within the recent years.
