"'Helen smiled, 'Thank you for the trouble.'
'Stephen,' Mr. Winfield called to the porter. 'Send for the carriage for her ladyship. And...Lady Helen, please take this. I am afraid there is something deeper at play. Something darker and more sinister than I first believed,' his face had grown suddenly grave, as though he were imparting a final farewell. 'Don't open it yet, you will know when, when time is no longer a luxury.' Then his expression softened. 'Take heart, we will yet see the light in all this.'
Helen accepted the offered parcel and tucked it beneath her cloak, nodding her thanks before voices outside drew her attention to the window...the morning chronicle."
