            ꒰      penelope  hadn’t  even  noticed  him  arrive.    one  moment  her  hands  were  empty,    and  the  next—    there  he  was.    small  and  red  and  entirely  unbothered,    settled  into  her  palms  like  it  was  the  most  natural  thing  in  the  world.      ꒱      oh ..      ꒰      a  soft  laugh,    more  breath  than  sound.      ꒱      —is  this  him?      ꒰      she  turns  her  hands  toward  cosmo  carefully,    the  crab  shifting  with  a  kind  of  dignified  reluctance,    one  claw  raised.    she’d  learned  not  to  question  it—    the  way  animals  found  her.    cats  on  windowsills.    birds  on  low  branches.    she  never  reached  for  them  first.    they  just ..    came.      ꒱      he  does  that  sometimes.      ꒰      she  says  quietly,    still  looking  down  at  sebastian.      ꒱      animals,    i  mean.    i  don’t  really  know  why.     ꒰      her  gaze  lifts  slowly,    finding  him  properly  for  the  first  time.      ꒱      i’m  penelope,    by  the  way.      ꒰      a  small  smile,    a  little  uncertain  around  the  edges.      ꒱      since  we’ve  both  held  him  now  i  think  that  counts  as  a  formal  introduction.

     why ive been here the whole time .  * he hadn't , that was a lie , but it brought great amusement to mess with other ! he gave a huge grin before disappearing for a moment , reappearing behind her . hovering over her . *  oh , where do you get such lovely jewels ? may I take a look at one ?
