What makes a good story? It's obviously not the story, anybody can tell you what happened. No, it's the detail. They don't want to read about what happened, if they did, we'd have a hell lot more historians. It's all about the details, they want to be there, surrounded by the mysticism, the chaos, the bloodiness and the sultriness, they want to be around people who would make lovely companions, they want to be inside the minds of great people. Because writers are indeed great people. As Metatron said, "When you create stories, you become Gods of tiny, intricate dimensions unto themselves."
