My favorite thing about poetry, is its innate ability to make you feel something. When you stumble upon a poem that deeply resonates with you, it can help remind you that you're not so alone in this world after all.
I began writing as a way to work through my feeling as well as a way to cope with the way my life spiraled out of control. Life doesn't always turn out the way you want it to. Mine certainly did not. I fell in love at 21, was married at 24, and divorced at 26. Divorce was never a part of my plan, however, for me, it was a necessary detour.
My hope is that someone out there might find comfort in my words, just as I have found comfort in the words of others. I also hope to shed some light on the topic of mental and emotional abuse. There seems to be this misconception that, it's only abuse if they hit you. Wrong, mental and emotional abuse is a very real thing, and it can have lasting effects on someone, the same way physical abuse can.
