"A riot is the language of the unheard."
          ~Martin Luther King

If you don't like us rioting, listen to us to begin with.
I might not be African American, but I am not ashamed to associate with someone of a darker skin than mine.
I am infact proud to be able to consider myself family and friends with those of darker skin.
I refer to them as "those with darker skin" and not "those people" or "that type" because they are my equals. They ARE NOT any different from you or me. They're skin color decides nothing. They are the same inside as we are. Anyone who believes otherwise has been corrupted but the ignorance and resistance that has overthrown this country. This country, that was once considered amazing and was worth so much, that other countries fought over it's land, is now the laughing face of the planet.
          Cops are absolutely disgraceful.

What I am ashamed of is to be an American.
Why the hell should anyone have to fear for their life because of who they are?
Be it who they love, the color of their skin, or who they worship; no one should be sentenced to death because a person who is supposed to protect their country decides- with their own liberty- that they aren't worthy of living in their country.

The country that people like those who are "protecting their country" ruined by being racist, sexist, homophobic, fascists.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
And to the republic for which it stands,
          ONE NATION under GOD
with LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ____

For who? Because even as a "stupid teenager" in America, I can confirm that the liberty and justice here, isn't for all.

The liberty and justice was put into a pledge written for straight, white males who's parents were rich enough to let them go to school.

The numbing sting as air hits my face,
the air that my lungs are lacking.
          asthma is a curse.
one that's plagued me for my whole life.
          but the sting.
the set and steady thump and crunch of gravel beneath my shoes.
          it's exhilarating.
and no matter the pain, I will not stop.
          these feelings give me control.
I haven't felt comfortable in my own skin
          for so long.
          these little things,
          simple, small, average things
          are keeping me afloat.
helping me 'train' to be the best me I can.
one measly step at a time.
yes, I may not be strong or smart
          or tall or athletic.
          but building onto
a part of me I never acknowledged
is helping me find a center,
one I was sure I had lost.
          none of this for me.
for I don't deserve to be treated like an equal.
          that's been made apparent.
however, tis not for you either.
it is for the being of mind.
          what mind?
          may be asked.
          I'm not sure,
but I'll know when I find it.
