Hi. This is Rei.
It's honestly surreal to be writing this after what, five years?
First of all, thank you. Thank you to everyone who read Far From Home, left a vote, commented, recommended it to someone else, or simply checked in every few months asking if I was okay or if the story would ever continue. Those little messages never went unnoticed. Even during the years I wasn't writing, seeing people still remember this story always made me smile.
I also want to thank all of you for somehow surviving... that writing.
I wrote Far From Home when I was thirteen years old. I had exactly three things: a dream, an overactive imagination, and absolutely zero clue what I was doing. Looking back, the writing was rough, the humor was... certainly a product of its time, and there are so many things I'd approach differently now. But despite all of that, you all stayed. You laughed at my questionable jokes, rooted for the characters, and believed in a story written by a kid who just wanted to share the ideas in her head.
Thank you for growing up with me.
Now, for the update you've probably been waiting years to hear.
I've decided that Far From Home will be getting a complete reboot.
There are a few reasons for this.
When I originally wrote it, the Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun manga and anime had only covered a limited amount of content. Since then, we've gotten so many new chapters, arcs, character developments, and world-building that I'd love to incorporate. I want the story to fit the canon much more naturally while still telling the story I originally envisioned.
The second reason is simple: I've grown as a writer.
I owe it to both myself and this story to give it the treatment it deserves. The reboot will keep the heart of Far From Home, but it'll be rewritten with better pacing, stronger characterization, improved dialogue, and hopefully a much better reading experience overall.
