Let me know if you are bored and I can recommend some other Chinese drama to you, either period or modern. I was also one of those who dislike modern Chinese drama before. However, I get attracted by the acting talents of the actors rather than the storyline. Therefore, I have started to watch modern Chinese dramas especially those that have Zhu Yi Long and Bai Yu as actors. ❤️❤️ they are just lovely. 
          
          About <<My True Friend>> I also find it disappointing to see ZYL as a supporting actor. However, his role in episodes 11-15 is quite charming. I really like his smiles. And it has Eng Sub which is great for me. There will be two more dramas this year which he will act as the main lead. Hopefully it will match your taste. =] If you have any drama to recommend, please do so. I bet we would have similar preferences in dramas.
