I still hope to find myself again, though I know I’ve gone too far to return untouched. What I survived didn’t end, it settled inside me, quiet and permanent. I learned to wear a mask in front of everyone because it was safer than explaining the damage. People see strength where there is only endurance, smiles where there is only control. I am still here, yes , but not healed. Just standing, holding myself together, waiting for a version of me that hasn’t learned how to breathe without pretending.
