⠀as stated before , akil has the power to shapeshift into a feline . not just any feline , or a house cat , but a panther . akil didn't just obtain this gift by normal means or because he was bitten by , what we call , THE MOTHER . no , how he obtained it directly still is a mystery . but there are theories , and perhaps the most popular one is that it was a blessing from egyptian goddess sekhmet , who is also believed to be the "first vampire" in many books .
⠀to understand further , we need to go back in time a couple thousand years when akil was just a young boy , around the age of thirteen , when he was attacked by a panther . akil was always wise enough to keep a knife with him when he wandered , but even that wouldn't have been enough to stop a beast with a lust for human flesh . to his luck , a mercenary saved his life . though akil did slash the beast across the face with his knife , whenever it slashed the side of his torso . it left three gashes , gushing blood .
⠀the mercenary was surprisingly kind enough to take him to the modern day physician , where akil acquired proper treatment . if not , akil would have lived for a time , but the wound would have become infected , and killed him .

⠀it was later in life that akil happened to come across the same panther . afore this meeting , he had named the beast in his dreams ; isfet , after the egyptian god of chaos , violence , and essentially evil . akil knew it was the same one by the scar on his face .
⠀it was a rather interesting game of cat and mouse for a time , but far more deadly . akil did slay the beast known as isfet , and took his pelt as a prize .
⠀and when turned into a vampire , he was granted the gift of shifting into a panther . not every vampire has this gift , and many have different gifts of their own .
⠀a most interesting fact about this ; shifting is a process , a very slow and grusome one . think , roughly , hemlock grove when peter shifted into the wolf . it is quite similar to that . but something akil can do , is control it .
⠀and whenever his face shifts into his more animalistic face that every vampire possesses , his is more or less a morph of human and panther , and is far for majestic , far more terrifying than any other vampiric face . it seems it is mesmerizing .
