Hi Everyone,

I announced before that I was during a contest on Tapas for my story, A Noble Conquest. I made it to the top 25, but that was as far as my story went—still good, but I figured I might as well post it on Wattpad.

Like all my work, it does have gay themes/relationships. They're not as upfront as some of my other world, but it's me, so it will happen, haha! It's my take on Mortals, Elves, and Fae trying to coexist.

I'm thinking of giving Patrons earlier access for a few weeks and then posting to Tapas/Wattpad.

          	Enjoy!

Good afternoon! You will post again demonic regime?

@luzfeitosa Wattpad took it down, so I can't reupload it. I'm considering putting it T-A-P-A-S, and it is already on my P-atreon and Rad-ish Fic. (Sorry for the weird hyphen; Wattpad comments doesn't like other platforms being mentioned.)

Floodgates should be considered an intense psychological thriller that could easily be classified as a mind-bending exploration of abuse, trauma, and manipulation. While I thoroughly enjoyed the book, its conclusion left me both enthralled and deeply frustrated. Steel's victory in the end was a hard pill to swallow, especially since I was rooting for Zale to finally get his revenge or, at the very least, reclaim his agency.
One of the most frustrating aspects of the story was the underdeveloped relationship between Zale and Gab Their connection didn’t feel fully fleshed out, leaving the ending somewhat unsatisfying. It was difficult to justify why Zale continued to keep Steel in his life, even after everything. However, I understand that the ending was a realistic portrayal of someone who has endured extensive brainwashing, abuse, and trauma. Zale’s dependency on Steel reflects the heartbreaking reality of abuse victims who believe they cannot succeed without their abuser.
Zale genuinely believes that his entire career and life trajectory would not exist without Steel. Despite constant reassurances from those around him about his talent and his family’s connections through his mother’s previous career, Zale is convinced that Steel is the sole reason for his success. Steel, portrayed as a malignant sadist and narcissist, manipulates Zale into believing this narrative by using money and power to accelerate Zale’s career. This makes it seem as though Zale’s success is solely owed to Steel, when in reality, Zale could have achieved it on his own with time and effort.

What drives me insane is how Zale still fails to see his own worth, even though Steel’s obsession with him clearly reveals it. Steel’s desperation to keep Zale close—beyond sexual purposes—proves how valuable Zale truly is. Steel’s character is established as someone who discards anything that doesn’t benefit him financially or otherwise, so the lengths he goes to for Zale clearly indicate his immense worth.
Another point of frustration was the excuse given for why Zale couldn’t "buy" Gab and free him from his situation. Considering the lavish lifestyle of Zale’s parents and the extravagant parties they throw, it’s implausible to believe they wouldn’t help if he explained Gabby’s situation as a sex trafficking victim. Instead, we’re presented with the flimsy argument that Zale can’t ask for their help because of the stigma surrounding Gabby’s profession, which feels like an oversight given the dire circumstances.
Ultimately, the Zale and Gabby subplot feels like it was forced in to provide a semblance of a happy ending. Zale finally standing up to Steel and recognizing his own self-worth would have been a far more satisfying conclusion. However, the book takes a darker, more torturous route, where Steel ultimately gets what he wanted all along—complete control over Zale.
The ending is devastatingly angsty and sadistically brilliant in its execution. It leaves the me grappling with the uncomfortable reality that sometimes abusers maintain their hold, and victims remain trapped in their influence. While I wish the story had taken a different turn, I can’t deny the emotional impact of the conclusion and the layers of complexity in the characters and their relationships. This was a deeply disturbing and thought-provoking novel that has stayed with me long after the final page.
Can anyone share thoughts on this ending I actually feel traumatized like girlll
