A lot of people wonder how I type if I’m blind or visually impaired. For visually impaired and blind people like me, we use an application called voiceover. Voiceover allows blind and visually impaired people to use their phone, tablet, or computer/laptop without actually seeing the screen. We use different gestures to move around our devices.
On computers and laptops however, we have to memorize where our fingers go and which key is for which letter. It’s pretty easy actually, as long as you know where to put your two index fingers, you pretty much got the whole keyboard memorized.
We also have a lot of technology that help make our every day lives much easier, or so they say. For example, we have the Braille Note, many learning tools, the Focus 40, the Victor Reader, ect. See, people think they make our lives easier, but in reality, they make our lives even harder. Many people think that blind and visually impaired people are into technology, but that’s not true. A lot of blind and visually impaired people such as myself, are not into technology, which is why we don’t like this kind of stuff. This is exactly why school is such a hassle for me. They expect us to know everything about technology and everything about braille, but in reality, a lot of us don’t even know how to use it. People expect blind and visually impaired people to be all smart and nerdy, but that’s not even the slightest of the truth. I am far from being a nerd, I am far from being smart.
That’s all, have a nice day, night, wherever you are. Just have a nice, whatever, ya no?
