Are any of my old friends still alive? 

i used to think that maybe if i believed hard enough, all would be well. i could somehow manage to be happy and to have all the people i loved safe with me. then tragedy struck and i realized how foolish and naive i had been. you cannot wish happiness into your life. you cannot wish people into your life if they don't want to be. i was stupid. i am stupid. but i'd rather be stupid than anything like he was
